SPSS Graduate Pack Student Purchase

This product is no longer available for sale!

This product is intended for Psychology students only. If you are working as a research assistant, tutor, lab assistant, etc, you are already covered under the University site license and can receive SPSS for free.

Important note: We only support SPSS 15.0 on Windows XP.

NOTE: your activation code is good for only "one activation", so do not share your personal code with others.

The software is available only to people who have purchased it. Follow the provided links to download software. The site requires authentication and you will need to use your Psychology login and password. Enter your login in the form LIFE\zNNNNNNN (where NNNNNNN is your student number). You will have the option of downloading a copy at home (if you have broadband), or downloading to a 256MB or larger USB stick in one of the computer labs. We recommend that only people with some form of internet access at home (dialup or broadband) purchase this product due to the online activation requirement. However if this proves to be a stumbling block and you own a notebook computer then the machine can be brought to the TSU for its once-off activation.

The license codes you will receive are valid until Dec 31st 2008.

FAQ

Q. Online activation has failed!
A. We have occasionally seen brief periods where the SPSS activation server is down, please try again the following day before contacting us.

Q. Can I buy a Mac version?
A. No, we do not support Macs.

Q. Why are you selling version 15 instead of 16?
A. The School has extensively tested version 16 and found that in its present state it is too buggy and slow to be useful in either teaching or research context.

Install Instructions

Make sure you do not have any prior copies of SPSS (e.g trials, older versions etc) on your computer before beginning. If you do have any old versions installed please make sure to remove them using Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel).

Double click SPSS1501.EXE and enter C:\ (if not already the default) and it will extract itself to C:\SPSS1501. Open Windows Explorer and browse to that folder and double click setup.exe

Pick single user license. Click Next through the rest of the dialogues accepting all the defaults.

When the install is complete it will prompt you to “Get a license now”. There is also a checkbox on the bottom left hand corner to “Register with SPSS.com” this is unnecessary and can be unticked if desired. Click OK to continue with the online activation process.

At this point in time if you are not already online then please dialup, connect to your wireless router, or do whatever else is necessary to get online.

Within the License Authorization Wizard click Start to continue. Choose “Use authorization via internet to get license”(the default option) and click next.

Cut and paste the license code that you were emailed and then hit next. Your copy of SPSS should now be licensed.

Once the authorization wizard is complete you should install the 15.0.1.1 update patch that is in the C:\spss1501 folder. Just click OK and Next a few times, it should only take about 10-15 seconds all up.

AMOS 7 is an optional download and probably only a small number of you will be interested in installing it. The install procedures are similar to the above, just make sure to use the AMOS code rather than the SPSS one.
